SH 249 a/k/a Aggie Expressway (Grimes and Montgomery Counties)

The Texas Transportation Commission has approved a Texas State Highway (SH) 249 extension, known as the Aggie Expressway, from Farm to Market Road (FM) 1774 at FM 149 in Pinehurst to FM 1774 at Todd Mission. The road received its name from the convenience it will lend to Texas A&M students, alumni, and researchers traveling to and from College Station. Aggie Expressway will be a 15 mile, four-lane tollway with two lanes in each direction and a large median in the center.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Aggie Expressway is “an effort to improve mobility and connectivity in Grimes and Montgomery counties.” Goals of the expansion include reducing car accidents, better addressing emergency evacuation needs, and an overall enhancement of regional connections.
